Abstract

The teaching of languages has evolved significantly over the past century, with dramatic shifts in pedagogical approaches driven by changes in society, technology, and research. For centuries, traditional methods dominated the field of language instruction, focusing on memorization, grammar rules, and translation. However, with the rise of the digital age, new technologies have reshaped the way languages are taught and learned, bringing both advantages and challenges.

Traditional techniques to language instruction have given way to more digitally connected ones, which has had a big impact on learning outcomes. This study compares and contrasts traditional and technological approaches to language acquisition, as well as the ways in which technology influences language learning results. One hundred ESL students were divided into two groups, and their opinions were ascertained using a mixed-methods technique. The results showed that in terms of motivation, engagement, and language competency, the technological group outperformed the conventional group. The study highlights how technology can increase language learning outcomes, particularly in areas like improving pronunciation, expanding vocabulary, and developing grammar. Future study and its implications for educators and legislators are highlighted.
